Bruce A. Phillips is a seasoned CPA and a passionate advocate for cloud technology. His leadership expertise running his own CPA firm, tenure as a CFO and COO of tech startups and experience as a cloud technology beta tester make Bruce one of the most respected names in cloud accounting. Prior to co-founding Aprio Cloud, Bruce spent seven years at E&Y helping clients navigate challenging tax and compliance environments. When not providing accounting advice Bruce is an active tennis player.
Stacey is an accomplished professional and a jack of all trades. She is involved in a wide variety of projects and knows how to handle it all with a significant amount of composure. She provides support to the entire team and our clients, communicating well with all levels. She works on numerous special projects, ensuring the client’s expectations, deadlines and customer service goals were being met. With her background in sales promotion and graphic design, she can also flex her creative muscles. When she is not following her Boston sports teams or shoveling snow, she is getting back home to her roots in Hawaii.
Ann is our implementation superstar and manages client conversions to Xero including onboarding all new clients to the firm. From a thorough assessment of each client’s procedures and requirements, to workflow design, to Xero add-on integrations, to implementation and training. This savvy Xero expert has it covered. Ann ensures that our clients convert to Xero with ease, have a smooth transition and supports them 100% through the change. Each client ends up with a Xero account tailored and personalized to their needs and a more efficient workflow.
As our clients' businesses grow, eventually they need more than just support or bookkeeping. They need someone to help them understand the numbers and answer critical questions to help them manage and grow their business. Jen is our Virtual CFO extraordinaire and provides a higher level of advice and support to our clients in this phase. With a pedigree background and resume, we were lucky to grab her from her previous CFO position with a Venture Capital firm in Silicon Valley. From cash flow reporting and projections, to quarterly client meetings, budgets and more, Jen is a trusted advisor. Her experience and knowledge is highly valued by our clients.
Ryan went to work in the corporate world at the start of his career, and after learning about all the innovation happening in cloud accounting, decided to get involved with Aprio Cloud. Ryan’s focus at Aprio Cloud will be on creating more efficiency across teams. Ryan lives in Atlanta and enjoys the city life with comedy shows, live music, and the theater. He is also an Atlanta Braves fan and stays active with basketball and hikes in North Georgia.
Ellie is a seasoned financial services industry professional with a passion for Client Relationship and Employee Development. She began her career with Merrill Lynch Asset Management as Assistant Vice President of Operations for their Institutional money market product, where she developed and cultivated professional relationships with Institutional clients and assisted Treasurers, CFO’s and money managers with their short-term cash needs. In addition to her expertise as a hiring manager, she’s experienced in all facets of operations and organizational processes to Aprio Cloud. Ellie is an avid Boston sports fans, always cheering on the Pats, Sox, Celtics and Bruins.
Haley started her career at EY in the corporate tax arena and worked on large engagements for mostly publicly traded companies. Later, Haley spent 10 years at Harshman Phillips, LLC managing a large client load that included all types of returns and industries. She enjoyed working with clients daily and advising them on tax strategies and developing close relationships. Haley's experience working in a corporate tax department has provided her with the knowledge of required reporting financials for publicly traded companies. In 2019, Haley has turned her sights to Aprio Cloud and eagerly joined the domestic tax team. With her knowledge of all things tax, Haley will develop and mentor the team as we grow to the next level.
Matt is an important part of our sales team, with focus on implementation and workflow needs for our clients. He thoroughly enjoys working hands on with prospects and customers to help them evaluate their workflow and navigate what systems and tools will be the most beneficial given their needs and budget. With years of cloud-based accounting experience, Matt has worked with various industries and accounting add-on tools. His experience helps to ensure our customers have a smooth onboarding transition. In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing soccer with friends, and trying new frisbee golf courses wherever he travels.
Ambra’s passion is working with dynamic people and companies, helping them work through inflection points as they scale. A cross-functional leader, Ambra is responsible for running operations, leading change, shaping strategy and driving through to execution. Prior to joining Aprio Cloud, Ambra was VP of US Business Operations & Strategy for Xero, one of the fastest growing Software as a Service (SaaS) companies globally. Before that, she led operations for the Nickelodeon games group.
Ambra is a member of Hipower, a select group of women corporate leaders, dedicated to unleashing the potential of professionals who advise technology businesses and executives.
Outside the virtual office, Ambra can be found trying to keep up with her family’s over-scheduled sports calendar or taking a spin on her beloved Peloton cycle.
Emily decided to pursue a career in accounting as a result of playing Monopoly as a child - all the numbers, money and business fascinated her. It was this interest that led her to study accounting and finance at the University of Southampton, England and then continue on to gain her Chartered Accountant designation. Working in implementation, Emily’s speciality is working with clients to transform their accounting and business needs into the cloud. She has a passion for cloud finance technology and enjoys finding new add-ons to help transform and streamline clients' businesses. On the weekends Emily can be found hiking with her family in the Rocky Mountains, out for jogs in the park or exploring the great Canadian outdoors.
Cortney is a graduate from Georgia Gwinnett College with a bachelors in Accounting. While in college she worked in a variety of accounting roles and eventually landed in business operations upon graduation. Interacting with clients and helping them embrace technology in the accounting world has always been Cortney's dream which is what drew her to Aprio Cloud. During her free time, Cortney enjoys going to the lake with her husband, going hiking with her dog and being with her family.
Melanie graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with a degree in Accounting. From there, she spent a few years in public accounting before making the switch to private accounting. Her experience in a broad spectrum of roles while working for small businesses jumpstarted her interest in using technology to make processes more efficient. Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time with her two dogs and two cats, developing her blog, crocheting, watching movies, traveling, and expanding her skills in woodworking.
Amy is a CPA who loves providing excellent service to clients and troubleshooting problems of any size. Amy has many years of experience with mid-size businesses, especially retail and
manufacturing, and has provided insights on how to organize and structure workflows for maximum efficiency. She has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and gets excited about implementing new cloud accounting solutions for clients. On her days off, Amy is probably traveling, discovering a new coffee shop, or spending time with friends.
Captivated by small business finance even as a young child, Sophia played “cash register” at her family's Greek diners. Those early experiences taught her the fundamentals of accounting, which led to a professional certification certification in New York State. After obtaining certification, Sophia went on to teach business classes in several developing school districts. After five years of teaching in the classroom, Sophia transitioned into an Assistant Accountant position within the district and from there to working for a small restaurant management company. Sophia has a passion for learning, traveling and shoes!
Preena is one of our Director of Client Services and NetSuite experts. She will be heading up our Cryptocurrency vertical along with other professional services clients in NetSuite. After graduating with her MBA, Preena started working in Washington, DC at a Digital Advertising Agency as the Senior Accounting and Operations Manager. There she had the opportunity to work with clients such as the Obama 2012 campaign, the Human Rights Campaign, and EMILY’s List. She is passionate about making a difference and providing a great client experience by paying attention to the details and always seeking ways to improve processes. In her free time, Preena likes to travel, try new local restaurants, and spend time with her friends cheering on the Carolina Panthers.
Rachel started her career as an auditor in public accounting and holds a Certified Public Accounting license. Her experience working with software and technology companies aligns well with the types of clients Aprio Cloud services. Rachel enjoys working with clients and helping them through challenging accounting issues. She is excited to help start-up companies grow their business. During her free time Rachel loves to camp, hike, spend time boating on the river and lakes of the Midwest, and traveling to new places where she can enjoy the outdoors.
Molly graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida. She began her career in public accounting, primarily focusing on tax and later transitioned into the nonprofit sector. Molly continually seeks to grow and evolve in all aspects of her life which inspired her to find a company that was doing and encouraging that. That is when she found Aprio Cloud. An avid yoga practitioner, Molly obtained a 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate. When not helping clients, Molly can be found practicing yoga, going on long walks, riding bikes, sitting in the sun, and spending time with loved ones.
Tina graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business with a Human Resources degree. She has over 25 years of experience working to find the best HR/payroll solutions for clients in the manufacturing, healthcare, telecom, financial, CPG and intelligence sectors. She enjoys helping clients with the technical details surrounding the HR and payroll environments. When she’s not working to find great solutions for her clients, she enjoys spending time with her family and her hobbies include photography and trying out new roller coasters with her teenage son.
After a stint in the corporate world, Michelle decided that providing bookkeeping services from a virtual environment was her calling. She enjoys transitioning clients to the cloud with Xero and other add-on technology apps. Michelle loves to help start-up companies grow. She keeps her life in balance practicing hot yoga and walking her two Brittany Spaniel dogs. Her husband is an actuary/analyst, so they enjoy geeking out on numbers together.
Rachel is a graduate from the University of South Florida where she earned her Bachelor's degree in accounting. She started her career at a well-established CPA firm in her hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida. She developed a thorough understanding of accounting for a variety of industries and has a passion for helping small businesses grow. In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking and getting together with friends.
All the way from Wanaka New Zealand, Sharon has more Xero experience than most. We were lucky for her to find us when she and her husband moved to the U.S. last year. She was so good, we hired her on the spot during our first Skype call. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. Sharon's organization and communication skills, along with her detailed knowledge of how to do everything Xero, are invaluable to Aprio Cloud and our clients.
A graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University with a Masters in Accounting, Christina has experience helping clients with audits, financials, and payroll. She also has experience in manufacturing, performing budgeting and forecasting. In her spare time she enjoys running half marathons, doing yoga, hiking, kayaking, and traveling. Her summers are spent on the baseball diamond, with her teenage son who plays travel baseball.
Melissa graduated from SUNY Oswego with an MBA concentrating in accounting and is a CPA. She has worked in public accounting for several years with a focus on small business and tax. She has worked in a variety of industries and has a passion for helping entrepreneurs and small businesses grow. When she's not working, she enjoys hiking with her dog, cooking, playing rec league sports, and just about anything that allows her to be outside.
Alex graduated with her Masters in Accounting from Penn State and started off her accounting career as a Big 4 auditor. After receiving her CPA and learning the ins and outs of an audit, Alex traveled to Thailand for a brief stint teaching English and returned to work in private equity. It was there she discovered her love of working with small businesses and entrepreneurs. Outside of work, Alex enjoys staying active through group fitness classes, traveling whenever possible, trying to train her puppy that shoes are not chew toys, shopping for home goods and exploring the Philadelphia food scene.
Elena moved to the United States from Russia and has worked in public accounting and payroll for over 12 years. She enjoys the problem-solving aspect of accounting and finds it rewarding when she is able to help her clients with their accounts. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling and having fun with her two small children exploring new parks and creating arts-and-crafts.
Susan graduated with a management degree and concentration in accounting from Ga Tech. She began her CPA career over 20 years ago as an auditor for a Big Six firm and has since worked in many different roles in both public and private accounting. Her experience helping an entrepreneur start a business is what led her to Aprio Cloud where she is pursuing her passion to help other growing businesses. Susan enjoys rooting for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, hanging out with her two dogs and experimenting with new dishes to feed her husband and three boys.
Jordan is a graduate from the University of West Florida with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and soon to have her MBA with a concentration in accounting. She heard about cloud accounting and knew immediately it was something she would be passionate about. Jordan’s focus is to help support both the client and the accounting department. In her free time, Jordan watches her husband’s baseball games and enjoys Orange Theory Fitness, traveling and playing with her dogs.
Sharon joins the team with over 15 years accounting and tax experience. All of her experience is with the Professional Services industry in the small business sector. As the Director of Client Services In-Charge of Professional Services, Sharon overseas a team of Accounting Advisors and provides accounting and advisory support for the clients within the Professional Services vertical. Within the vertical, Sharon fosters a spirit of providing a great client and team member experience, while keeping things fun! Sharon believes in doing what's right for the client and being proactive. When Sharon is not coaching team members and clients, she enjoys family time with her husband and two small boys.
Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, Andrew has lived in Boston, MA and now resides in Portland, ME. Possessing Big 4 experience and having worked in both private and public accounting, comprehensive tax compliance knowledge and experience, Andrew is passionate about helping people and businesses succeed. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as hiking, cooking, reading and playing disc golf.
Ever since Sherry was introduced to accounting, she has enjoyed the art of reconciling client's financials. Sherry has worked in various levels of accounting and human resources and her experience is a value to the team. She enjoys travel, wine and all types of food. Sherry spends her free time listening to live music and attending the symphony.
Chelsea is originally from Taiwan and is a Taiwan CPA. She received an MBA from Indiana University and has experience working at a Big 4 firm in a wide set of advisory roles. She currently lives in Washington D.C. with her husband and Bichon Shih-Tzu. She enjoys exploring new restaurants, gardening and watching The Bachelor.
Aaron is a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in Finance and Japanese. During his time at university, Aaron traveled abroad many times and continued to work as a part-time bookkeeper. After learning Aprio Cloud was completely cloud based, he had to jump on board as it fit with his lifestyle. Flexibility while still getting all one’s work done is a match made in heaven. After working at the last physical location of HPC, Aaron moved to California to continue to assist all team members with various projects and software.
Travis earned his MAcc with a minor in fraud examination from Georgia Southern University. Now with over 5 years of public accounting (the majority with Aprio from 2011-2014) and a short stint in corporate international accounting he has joined the Aprio Cloud Client Support team. Travis is excited working with our clients and providing them support and guidance. When he isn’t providing creative solutions for clients you can find him skydiving. He works and literally plays in the cloud.
April is a graduate from Georgia State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a concentration in Accounting. She started her career as an accountant for small to mid-size companies in various industries. April began working at Aprio in July 2016 and currently works with professional services clients. April enjoys learning new things and she is committed to exceeding her client’s expectations by implementing accounting practices that promote growth and efficiency. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and spending time outdoors hiking, fishing, and snowboarding.
Tim is a recent honors graduate from Southern New Hampshire University with a major in accounting concentrated on federal taxation. With a background in leadership, management and administration, Tim specializes in client organization around tax matters and helps companies gain and maintain government compliance with business registrations, sales taxes, income and other tax returns, and other miscellaneous documents. He is always willing to lend a hand and is eager to create solutions for our client challenges. When not working, Tim enjoys fishing, hunting and hiking the woods of New England.
Daniel is a graduate from Stevenson University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. During his time at Stevenson he played soccer, started his graduate degree in forensic studies, and began his career in tax accounting. He truly believes that online accounting is the future and is thrilled to be working with Aprio Cloud. During his free time, Dan enjoys golfing, playing soccer and spending time with his family.
Amber has over 10 years as an Administrative Assistant working in various industries including Tax Services. Amber continues to stay ahead of the technology resources that Aprio Cloud clients can benefit from. Amber feels strongly in supporting the team and assisting them in creating efficiencies and streamlined processes. Amber enjoys interior decorating, home organizing and spending time with her husband.
Kevin is dedicated to cloud accounting and the advances made possible by the new wave of technology that will shape the accounting industry in the years to come. Kevin has a comprehensive background in the field of accounting and taxation with emphasis on tax compliance, tax consulting, business startup guidance, international services and handling IRS audits. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys spending time hiking, skiing, exploring the outdoors, playing video games and traveling.
Sadie began her career with PWC, providing tax compliance and consulting services to private companies, family offices and individuals. She understands the complexities of the U.S. tax system and analyzes tax implications from business and individual perspectives. A former scuba instructor and accounting tutor, Sadie has a natural passion for sharing information with others and loves guiding clients through tough tax scenarios. When it’s not tax season, Sadie enjoys traveling, scuba diving, hiking and training with her Husky mix, Timber.
Elysa graduated with her BBA in Accounting and Finance and she began her tax career in the private sector. She decided that the virtual environment was an exciting opportunity where she could help people with her love for numbers and problem-solving. In her spare time, Elysa enjoys cooking, the Texas beach and park trips with her family. She spends a lot of time at cheering on her husband's high school football team with her two young daughters in tow.
